HARLINGEN – Harlingen police are warning residents of fraudulent phone calls from crooks trying to get their money.

It’s become an everyday thing for a woman.

Estella Perez can’t remember the last day she didn’t get a mysterious phone call wanted some piece of information or asking for a type of payment.

“It doesn’t matter what it says, I don’t answer anymore because I have no business with them and they have no business with me,” said Perez.

Harlingen police hope other residents are doing the same.

The police department received reports of a new phony call claiming to be from a municipal court.

Commander John Parish explained these calls might even come from a local number to try to fool people.
