The Harlingen Police Department is investigating after a body was found in a vehicle at the parking lot of Valle Vista Mall, a spokesperson said.

The body was discovered Tuesday morning, department spokesperson Sgt. Larry Moore said, adding that the scene is still active.

Harlingen police said the body was in a state of decomposition, making it hard to tell if the body belongs to a man or woman.
