Harlingen Home Invasion Victim Speaks Out on Incident, 3 Suspects Wanted
HARLINGEN – A home invasion over the weekend in Harlingen left a family shaken up.
Police issued out an arrest warrant for one of the three men wanted in connection with the incident.
It happened on the 600 block of North 3rd Street around 5:15 p.m. Sunday. Officials say three armed men entered the home and took money from the residents.
Investigators identified 31-year-old Agustin Gonzales, of Harlingen, as one of the suspects. He’s facing charges of burglary of habitation with intent to commit assault.
Authorities say Gonzales and two others fled from the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
One of the victims spoke to CHANNEL 5 NEWS off camera fearing for her safety.
She says one of the men stayed in the car. His partner entered the home and pointed a gun at her kids. A third man held the homeowner at gunpoint on his front lawn in broad daylight.
The men demanded money, as the homeowner pleaded that his kids were home. The trio got off with the family's rent money.
Harlingen Police Commander of Criminal Investigation Divisions David Osborne said the department is “continuing to investigate the case, the cause of why that home, what were they looking for, what ties would they have if any to these suspects. We're looking for the other two that may have been involved as well, trying to determine who they may have been.”
Police will be surveying the area to see if anyone saw anything or knows more information in this case.
The victim says she was up until 3 a.m. fearing for her family’s safety.
Anyone with information on Gonzales’ whereabouts or the identities of the other suspects is urged to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477.
