A Tuesday groundbreaking was held in Alton for a new clinic and resource center.
The Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Health Clinic and Community Resource Center will be income-based, meaning how much you pay for the services depends on how much you make.
The nearly $10 million project is being federally funded.
The Hidalgo County Health Department says precinct three has a high number of elderly people that will be served by the clinic, while also helping connect those who can't travel to other medical offices.
Construction is expected to take about a year.
