Gov. Abbott issues disaster declaration for Hidalgo County in response to recent storm
A disaster declaration was issued for Hidalgo County following a recent storm that left residents with severe property damage, according to a news release from the office of Gov. Greg Abbott.
The disaster declaration was issued following an April 28 storm.
“The State of Texas is ready to provide all available resources and support for Texans in Hidalgo County as they rebuild and recover from severe storm damage last month,” Abbott said in a Thursday news release. “This disaster declaration will help those impacted to move forward, recover from property damage, and continue to rebuild from severe storm damage.”
Under the declaration, the Texas Division of Emergency Management was directed to request joint disaster damage assessments with the U.S. Small Business Administration to determine the state’s eligibility for federal disaster assistance for Texans whose properties were damaged during the storm.
Residents are urged to report any property damage online.
