The Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville is making some changes to their ticket prices.

The zoo announced admission prices will change depending on the day of the week. It's a model used nationwide at different types of parks and zoos.

As part of the pricing model, adult ticket prices will range from $14 to $19. Child tickets will range from $8 to $13 while seniors will see prices range from $12 to $17.

The prices are in effect through July 2023.

The hope is to encourage more visits on the days that normally see less people, as the zoo works to keep up with inflation.

"90% of our income actually comes from ticket prices, so this actually helps us really maintain a top-notch zoo, a top-notch facility to move forward in creating new and exciting exhibits," Gladys Porter Zoo Marketing Coordinator Alejandra Rodriguez said.

Zoo officials say they continue to work towards a $30 million plan that would add new exhibits, upgrade current ones and add a zip-line for park for visitors.
