LA FERIA – Residents in Cameron County affected by the June floods now have a place to register for federal assistance.
The recovery center is located at 1001 Pancho Maples Drive in La Feria. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Residents wanting to apply for assistance must bring a driver’s license, social security number, insurance policy number, banking routing number and a list of damages.
FEMA spokeswoman Maria Padrón says after applying a FEMA investigator will inspect the damages at the home within 10 days.
Padrón says if people do not qualify for FEMA help they can be referred to organizations like the Small Business Administration or volunteer organizations that help people devastated by natural disasters.
