Fire Lieutenant Highlights Safety Precautions during Lightning Storms
BROWNSVILLE – A Cameron County family is without a home after lightning struck causing it to burst into flames.
The electricity went out in the home when it was struck; then the flames began to slowly form.
Donsicia Velasquez says she could hear a noise through the walls.
She grabbed and managed to get her four children and grandchildren out of the house.
Luckily no one was injured.
A fire lieutenant tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS during lightning storms, people need to be prepared.
