UPDATE: According to a release sent by the Harlingen Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance involving a father and son Wednesday.

The father told officers on scene that his son fired a flare gun at him.

The father alleges he then fired a handgun at his son, striking him at least once.

The son fled the scene and was driven to a local hospital by a neighbor.

HARLINGEN - Authorities are responding to a shooting in Harlingen.

Harlingen police tell us they responded to a family disturbance with shots fired call at around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.

It happened at the 1000 block of Little Creek.

The Harlingen Police Department is investigating.
