BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville police is working with very little information to try to find a person who’s been missing for almost a month.

Authorities said 32-year-old Ramiro Avila went missing in the Brownsville downtown area after a relative dropped Avila off near the intersection of Washington and 12th streets.

Avila’s mother, Elvira Avila, said she’s put up flyers all over the downtown area. She said calls have completely stopped and there aren’t any clues as to where Avila could be.

The mother said the flyers are also being vandalized.

She said the 32-year-old was last seen accompanied by a group of people. She said she believes they’re too afraid to come forward with information.

“I think people don’t call because somebody is involved or knows something. If people saw my son, and they saw if someone took him or if he left with someone, why can’t they call police?” she said. “They’ve already been investigating, so why not say if someone took him or if he left on his own?”

Avila was last seen wearing a black dress, black stockings and black shoes.

Anyone with information on Avila’s whereabouts can contact Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 956-546-8477.
