MCALLEN – What started as panic with hundreds evacuating amidst what first sounded similar to gunfire ends with seven in custody from a botched jewelry store heist.
It happened Saturday afternoon at La Plaza Mall in McAllen.
According to the McAllen Police Department, they received a call at around 12:24 p.m. of an attempted robbery.
McAllen police took seven male suspects into custody, according to a press release.
There were no injuries reported.
The case is still under investigation.
