WESLACO – Facebook says a software bug potentially affected 7 million people who uploaded pictures to third-party applications.
According to the website, this includes pictures that users uploaded but were never posted.
From Sept. 13 through Sept. 25, Facebook says third-party applications may have had more access to user’s personal photos.
KRGV’s chief engineer, Michael Leal, explains there is virtually nothing a victim could have done to stay protected.
"The particular bug in question ignored security settings and allowed access to what was meant to be private data," says Leal.
