An Edinburg man is accused of breaking into a property and having sex with a horse, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Channel 5 News.

Jail records indicate Cirilo Castillo, 54, was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of bestiality and two counts of criminal trespassing. He remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Jail on a $72,500 bond.

Castillo has a handful of previous arrests on similar charges dating back to 2012, according to jail records

According to the probable cause affidavit, the owner of a property at the 6000 block of East Alberta Road in Edinburg caught Castillo in the property on Tuesday, June 11, and again on June 18.

On June 11, the caller reported she went to the stables to feed her horses when she saw Castillo standing on a chair and having sex with her white mare.

“She had previous encounters with Cirilo trespassing on her property to have sex with her horse,” the affidavit stated.

Castillo was arrested on June 18 after the property owner reported seeing Castillo jumping over a gate to go into her property again.

Court records indicate Castillo is set to appear in court on August 30 on a bestiality charge stemming from a March 2022 arrest.
