EDINBURG – Four first responders arrived in two ambulances to help save the state trooper who was shot over the weekend.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas met with the first responders who treated him and transported him to the hospital.

We learned each first responder has different duties in order to work quickly and efficiently as a team.

"Calls like that for officers down – that's probably one of the most dreaded calls because it’s one of your own people, one of your own family,” explains Gilbert Leal, paramedic, Hidalgo County EMS.
