LA VILLA – A drainage project which began in the aftermath of Hurricane Dolly is weeks away from completion.

After Dolly hit, Hidalgo County was awarded $40 million and put the funding into this project.

“We noticed some changes. This past flood, it went down faster,” says resident La Villa Jose Pinales.

The Director for Hidalgo County’s Urban Program, Diana Serna, believes this project prevented even more homes from being flooded with June’s heavy storms.

KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro spoke with Serna who explains why the process has been lengthy.
