WESLACO – The government is moving forward with border wall construction plans.

The new plans are set for Hidalgo and Starr counties.

The Department of Homeland Security is announcing some environmental waivers.

Twenty-nine acts are being waived in order to construct roads and physical barriers.

The Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty are just some listed in the document.

Earlier this year, DHS announced their plans to build more than 95 miles of territory along the Rio Grande Valley border.

Those projects can include a levee or border wall, gates, lighting, all-weather roads and surveillance cameras.

The official announcement will be posted on the federal registry Friday.

It’s pending DHS Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan’s signature.
