Deadline to request mail-in ballot is Friday
EDITOR'S NOTE: The story was updated on Friday, Feb. 23 after a previous version mistakenly said applications were being accepted in person.
Early voting for the March primary elections is underway.
Those who can’t vote in person have until Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. to turn in an application for a mail-in ballot to their local election office.
The application for Hidalgo County voters is online, and voters need to fill it out and print it before turning it in.
Those turning it in must do so using one of the following methods:
-Email elections@co.hidalgo.tx.us
- Fax: 956-393-2039
- or mail it to the Hidalgo County Election Department at P.O. Box 659 Edinburg TX. 78540-0659:
The application must be received in the office, not postmarked with today's date.
"If you do email it or fax it, you have four business days to mail us or drop off the application for ballot by mail the original copy,” Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Hilda Salinas said.
Election resources are available online.
In Hidalgo County, nearly 9 thousand people have cast their primary ballots since early voting began on Tuesday.
