RIO GRANDE CITY – Efforts are underway to revitalize Rio Grande City’s water tanks. City leaders are trying to tackle state violations.
The city has been working to improve conditions on more than one tank. In early 2019, the Texas commission on Environmental Quality told city staff one tank was “in imminent distress and could fail miserably at any time.” City staff say that tank has since been demolished.
Water storage problems are an issue for crew in many Valley cities. Contractors use diving equipment to get into the water towers to check the inside for corrosion issues or areas that might need patching.
