CON MI GENTE: Navifest in Rio Grande City
RIO GRANDE CITY – The community comes together during the holidays with the goal of having fun, while at the same time raising money to brighten up the holidays for the kids.
Most cook-offs are traditionally held in the spring, but the Navifest in Rio Grande City is different than most.
Most aficionados of cook-offs will tell you menudo and chicharron are not in your typical cook-offs. There’s even a baseball tournament in the middle of the cook-off.
“We're giving out some bicycles for kids that are going to come out. In a little while they’ll pick a number and whatever kid has that number the bicycle belongs to him," said District Judge Chuy Alvarez.
