CON MI GENTE: Local Vietnam Veteran's Early Christmas Gift
ELSA – A Rio Grande Valley veteran was living in a home that was in need of some major help. Well, thanks to another group of veterans, he received an early Christmas gift.
The home they repaired belongs to Francisco Belmares, a disabled Vietnam veteran.
It's a combined effort.
Home Depot approved a grant for the materials; about 10 of the volunteers work for the store and are veterans themselves.
They joined the Knights of Columbus of Donna and a group of veterans called America's Last Patrol.
They painted the house, replaced an entire wall where the insulation was really bad or non-existent, and replaced the floor in his bedroom.
