RIO HONDO – Last year they held their first festival to celebrate the reopening of the Rio Hondo Bridge.
The bridge is the city’s main connection to the rest of the Rio Grande Valley.
The celebration, Bridge Fest, started with a parade.
The bridge was closed for about two years for repairs; a devastating blow to the city.
It made residents realize what role the bridge plays in their everyday life.
