A veteran and his family received a heartfelt welcome from the community with messages that will be with them for as long as they live in their new home.

Alejandro Sanchez joined others in the community by placing heart shaped messages around the soon to be finished home of his brother - Army Veteran Jacob Sanchez.

"It's overwhelming,” Jacob Sanchez said. “It's overwhelming in such a great way."

Sanchez served in Afghanistan and was medically retired.

Adjusting to civilian life hasn't been easy for him or his family -

“"They've gone through a lot. Like most soldiers do,” Alejandro Sanchez said. “"He can see all the love everyone has for him and his family and the appreciation for his service."

After a surprise welcome, the family was able to read the love notes left for them.

"The fact they got so many people to come put these notes of love for us willingly it's beautiful," Jacob Sanchez said.
