RIO HONDO – Work has begun to clean up a toxic paint site, which sparked a massive fire several years ago near Rio Hondo.
The owner of the property, which is located at the corner of FM-106 and FM-803, is now taking responsibility, as ordered by the court.
William Templeton made a down payment of $10,950 to start the clean-up.
For years, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality cited and ordered Templeton to clean up the hazardous material.
The Attorney General’s Office stepped in during October to order Templeton’s arrest.
KRGV’s Daisy Martinez has the details.
