MCALLEN – One Rio Grande Valley organization is asking the public to help them expand.

The leader of the Catholic Charities’ respite center says they’re in desperate need of volunteers and donations. However, she says even with an influx of donations from all over the world, they still need help.

Sister Norma Pimentel, the center’s director, tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they’ve been receiving, on average, 50 family units a day.

With these numbers they often find themselves in need for a new center, says Pimentel. She adds the constant flow of people is too great for the three-room building.

KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez spoke to a volunteer who is calling others to assist them.

If you would like to donate or volunteer to Catholic Charities, you can contact them at 956-702-4088.
