Cameron County on Tuesday reported five new positive cases of COVID-19 and no new coronavirus-related deaths.

Since the pandemic began, 2,221 people have died due to the virus in Cameron County, according to the report from the Cameron County Public Health department. 

Of the five positive cases reported in the county on Tuesday, one was confirmed based on PCR testing and four were probable reports based on antigen testing.

Vaccination efforts continue across Cameron County; currently, 85.69% of the population five years and older is fully vaccinated.
