A Brownsville nonprofit group that helps asylum seekers is celebrating an award from Mexico.
Team Brownsville was awarded the Alfonso Garcia Robles Award. The award recognizes the efforts of groups who work in favor of the rights of migrants, and was given to Team Brownsville by the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
“I feel like it lifts our morale,” Team Brownsville Director Andrea Rudnok said. “You could say we're small, but mighty. We're mighty in the sense that we are dedicated, and we want to continue doing work.”
Team Brownsville was founded in 2018.
