Brownsville Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Smuggling Meth
BROWNSVILLE – A Brownsville man was sentenced to federal prison for trying to smuggle methamphetamine into the country.
In Nov. 2016, 21-year-old Ernesto Alonso Valdez attempted to drive across the port of entry in Brownsville when agents discovered around nine pounds of meth in his backseats and rear bumper.
Valdez pled guilty to the drug trafficking charges and will now spend 11 years in federal prison.
He is pending transfer to a correction facility.
