BROWNSVILLE- After 60 years in business, the H-E-B on Elizabeth street closed its doors Sunday.
The location was one of the smallest and oldest stores in the company.
The shutdown is because of needed store repairs.
H-E-B issued over 2,000 B Metro/H-E-B ID cards to the downtown shopping customers in need of transportation assistance to the two nearest stores located about two miles away at 2250 Boca Chica and Central Blvd.
H-E-B is also partnering up to hold free monthly food distributions in partnership with the Río Grande Valley of the Rio Grande Valley and the Brownsville Wellness Coalition.
