MCALLEN – Border Patrol’s Tactical Unit, also known as BORTAC, was one of the many agencies that responded to the attempted robbery at La Plaza Mall.
BORTAC is known for their operations in the field but provided their tactical skills in what was originally thought to be an active shooter situation.
KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez spoke with BORTAC Commander Marco Ponce-Deleon to find out more about these efforts.
"We responded as a supporting agency to support the McAllen Police Department with anything they needed,” says Ponce.
Deleon says they’re one of the leading active shooter response teams in the nation.
