RIO GRANDE CITY – Safety is at the top of the agenda in the plans to bring back the main travel route from Central Mexico to the U.S.

A business owner from Mexico had his company expand a year ago. They established a location in Rio Grande City.

The new international business is a result of talks between border leaders discussing Route 54.

The discussions over the past year helped.

Border leaders from both sides figured out what each municipality needs, how to merge business across borders and build relationships.
