The Port Isabel tarpons took down Ingleside 28-21 last week in the playoff opener.

They will be in Kingsville for the area round as the matchup with the Lago Vista Vikings awaits.

Tarpons head coach Tony Villarreal regards the Vikings as one of the toughest teams in the entire region.

He knows it will be no easy task for his team.

The tarpons will be relying heavily on their rushing attack. The offense is responsible for over 3,000 yards on the ground this year.

That unit is led by Luis Ramos and all-state offensive guard Steven Martinez. Both players are feeling good about their team heading into the next round.

"Our talk is just to stay focused and just remember to do it for each other, do it for the person next to us," Martinez said. "Just to lock in, focus, study, so when it comes to Friday night we come out with the victory."

"The mindset's been, we got them for sure. We're gonna surprise them like we did Ingleside. We're gonna put our name out there." Ramos added.

The game will be played at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
