Alton flea market implementing drive-thru operation to keep customers, vendors safety
ALTON — Pulga Los Portales in Alton will reopen on Thursday.
Michelle Vallejo, the owner of the pulga, says about 10,000 people can fit in the market area. However, with new limitations, only about 1,000 will be allowed. The flea market won’t be able to operate as it used to. Now, it will all be drive-thru.
Vallejo says they’re requiring all of their vendors to wear face coverings. Customers, who will remain in their cars, must also wear face coverings. Sanitation stations have also been added for extra safety.
Alton City Manager Jeff Underwood said flea market operators can open at 25% capacity and must submit a work safe plan, along with a map for traffic flow.
