ALTON – A battle with cancer isn’t stopping a 9-year-old boy from stepping up for his hometown.
Brandon Tadeo Alvarez swore in as an honorary police captain in Alton on Friday.
He had a room packed with law enforcement to show support – this is his second fight with liver cancer.
“His spirits have been lifted and that's the ultimate goal in this, is to give him the motivation and the spirit to keep fighting,” says Alton Police Chief Johnathan Flores.
KRGV’s Taylor Winkel explains Alton officers will continue stopping by his house to make sure he’s keeping up with his captain duties.
