UPDATE (4/12 12:50 PM): Eddie Olivarez with the Hidalgo County Health Department confirmed the sixth case of mumps Friday morning.

In addition to those cases, there are several other suspected cases that have yet to be confirmed.

WESLACO - There are five confirmed cases of mumps in Hidalgo County.

The cases were confirmed by Julia Sullivan with Hidalgo County's Public Affairs Office.

She adds an additional 18 cases are under investigation.

She tells us 13 of the 18 possible cases were passed on to people who knew each other.
