After struggling with poor road conditions, winter Texans staying at Isla Blanca Park received good news on Tuesday. 

"Wow, it's amazing. They haven't been here for years patching this," Don Leven, a winter Texan from Missouri, said. "We call Channel 5, and when 5 news shows up, the patching crew shows up."

Leven and other residents say numerous potholes were damaging their vehicles and making outdoor activities like walking and bike riding nearly impossible. 

Cameron County officials say the weather kept them from repairing the roads sooner. Officials say most of the road improvements should be finished by the end of the week.
