EDINBURG – Officials at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley confirmed another mumps case.
We’re told a library staff member is confirmed to have mumps – a spokesperson says 30 staff members may have been exposed.
This brings the total to nine confirmed cases in Hidalgo County, with four of those at the university.
Hidalgo County’s Health Department is assisting the university by providing vaccination clinics.
KRGV’s Christian Colón spoke with the Chief Administrative Officer for Hidalgo County’s Health Department, Eddie Olivarez.
He says more than 25 cases have been investigated but only nine have been confirmed. The source is unknown.
