2 killed in multi-car crash on I-10 in Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A multi-car crash on Interstate 10 in Louisiana has left two people dead.
Louisiana State Police say it happened shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday in Lafayette Parish.
A preliminary investigation shows that 67-year-old William Rawlings, of Killeen, Texas, was driving an 18-wheeler eastbound when he encountered slow-moving traffic in a construction zone. Rawlings was unable to slow down in a timely manner and hit the rear of a pickup driven by 45-year-old Kenneth McNeil, of Houston, Texas.
That crash sparked a chain reaction involving five vehicles. McNeil's truck was pushed into 24-year-old Geri Glasco's car, which then hit the rear of another 18-wheeler, which in turn struck another 18-wheeler.
McNeil and Glasco, of Arnaudville, Louisiana, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
