A $16 million sidewalk installation project is underway in Brownsville.

Crews are installing sidewalks along Dana Avenue due to schools in the area — and the amount of accidents officials say have occurred there.

The Texas Department of Transportation, Cameron County and the city of Brownsville are pitching in to pay for the project.

The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
