DONNA – Hundreds of families will be receiving Thanksgiving meals this year as a part of Catholic Charities’ Sharing Basket event Tuesday.

The number of families seeking assistance is increasing at a church in Donna.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church Father Franciscus Yuandoro, better known as Fr. Eka (pronounced eh·kow), doesn't have a sharing basket, but sharing rooms full of food for families in-need.

Eka visits families in several colonias in Donna. He told us the church will have a dinner for families before the food giveaway; they plan to have 32 turkeys.

You can donate nonperishable canned foods to any Peter Piper Pizza location or at our studio in Weslaco from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
