Mission CISD is hosting a back-to-school event, and they're going to be giving out more than just school supplies.

The district will be offering free and low-cost services offered to students. The event will be inside the gym at Veterans Memorial High School starting at 6 p.m.

Mission CISD has about 14,000 students total and many of their high school students volunteered last week to fill 1,500 bags with school supplies that will be given to registered students at the event.

Mission CISD Assistant Superintendent for Finance Joel Garcia said at the event, students will also be able to get eye exams and haircuts for free.

They will also offer low-cost immunizations and sport physicals. This is a chance for parents to get their child for school without having to break the bank.

"Again, we'll have a one-stop shop where we can provide a lot of services to your children. And also, you know, you're welcome to become part of the Mission CISD family," Garcia said.

Garcia says enrollment teams will be on-site to register new students, and they will have representatives from each campus to talk about extracurricular activities they offer.

Mission CISD said on the first week of school, all district students will get a free mesh backpack and school supplies.
