Waterspout Seen on South Padre Island Described as Rare Weather Occurrence
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND- A couple of seconds.
That's all it took for a waterspout to be considered a tornado Friday afternoon on South Padre Island.
The rare weather event moved from out over the water onto land, giving it the tornado classification.
CHANNEL 5's Cecilia Gutierrez spoke to officials with the National Weather Service about how rare events like these are in the Rio Grande Valley.
