Progreso High School students deal with lack of air conditioning
Students at one Valley high school say they're now dealing with two significant problems: the coronavirus and the Texas heat.
As temperatures continue to reach the upper 90s, Progreso High School students looking to escape the heat inside the classroom aren't getting much relief because the school's AC system isn't working.
Maintenance Director for Progreso Independent School District Frank Quintero says when the school powered up the AC system ahead of the new school year, they found the halls were staying cool, but the classrooms were not.
"It is hot, not terribly hot, but it is warm," Quintero said. "Depending on individual temperatures, you feel comfortable or otherwise."
While school officials say they're working to fix the situation, they say it will take some time.
