An 18-wheeler trailer carrying bales of hay caught on fire late Thursday evening along the expressway, according to the Pharr Fire Department.

The Pharr Fire Department arrived at the scene along North Cage Boulevard between Minnesota and Owassa roads at around 8:30 p.m. when they found the trailer full of hay bales on fire, according to Lt. Rolando Cavazos with the Pharr Fire Department.

The truck was able to disconnect from the trailer containing the hay and did not burn. No injuries were reported, Cavazos said.

The Texas Department of Transportation is assisting the Pharr Fire Department with the scene which is still active.
