MCALLEN – A McAllen eye doctor wants to warn people about the connection between their diet and diabetes.
He says some of these “junk foods” can lead to this disease.
“The problem with junk food is it’s ubiquitous. It’s everywhere. It’s very tasty. It’s cheap and the people have gotten used to it,” explains Dr. Richard Gillett, ophthalmologist.
He emphasizes the importance of education and self-control.
He believes if the amount of smokers can drop drastically, so can the amount of people who overeat unhealthy foods.
KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey has the details.
