Border Wall Surveyors in Cameron Co. to Start in the Next Few Months
UPDATE (7/16): Customs and Border Protection tells us they will be looking for right of entry surveys for six months anywhere where the wall is planned to go.
They hope to be done surveying in Cameron County in the next few months.
Once given access to the property generally the survey can take anywhere from one to three days.
CBP says property owners can elect to be notified in advance of the survey but does add schedules can change due to unforeseen circumstances.Basic information is all they want. A simple heads up on when strangers will be walking through their backyard.
When Albea Carrasco and her husband moved into their home three years ago, they didn’t believe a wall would be put up.
Carrasco was given documents explaining the 19 mile border wall would be built in Cameron County along with a breakdown of what will come with the wall.
“They’re going to come when they want. They can enter and leave when they want. And I say the government is the government, but they also can’t step all over us,” said Carrasco.
She says neighbors went around to remove the orange markers; they, too, are upset.
Carrasco says the least the government can do is notify them before surveyors show up.
