UPDATE (1/31): Hidalgo County investigators believe the skeletal remains found in a burned sugarcane field are from a person who died before the field burning.
The remains were found Wednesday near Levee Road and Military Parkway.
Authorities continue to investigate.

The spokeswoman for the Hidalgo County’s Sheriff’s Office says they’re still working out whose jurisdiction this case will fall under before releasing information.
