ALTON - Alton police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in a pond Christmas afternoon.

Police Chief Jonathan Flores told CHANNEL 5 NEWS the body was found at the 600 block of North Mexico Street just before 12:30p.m.

Chief Flores said the investigation is in its preliminary stages and is being labeled as an equivocal death.

So far, nothing is being ruled out.

Autopsy results are pending.
