Residents with special needs advised to call 211
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - The South Padre Island Fire Department is issuing re-entry stickers for people needing to get back on the island after a storm.
The stickers can be obtained at the fire department located behind the former City Hall Building at 4501 Padre Boulevard. They'll stop being issued after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Empty sandbags will be available for residents at the SPI Public Works Building at 4501 Padre Boulevard. Five bags will be available for residents. Ten will be available for businesses. Sandbag distribution will continue until 4 p.m. on Thursday.
South Padre Island officials are asking residents and tourists to have their medications refilled. They're also advised to keep cash on hand and prepare necessary supplies.
Those with special needs are urged to call 211, or contact the police department at (956) 761-5454 to be added to a special-needs list in the event of severe weather.
