MIAMI (AP) - IRL driver and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves has been indicted on tax evasion and tax fraud charges in the U.S. He is accused of using offshore accounts to hide millions of dollars in income from the IRS.
Court documents say Castroneves is accused of failing to report to the IRS about 5.5-million dollars in income between 1999 and 2004. Each of the seven counts carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.
